Hi guys and welcome to episode number 8. Today’s question is by Simon Kindbom Höydahl.

Simon Kindbom Höydahl: Hello Pontus/Zlapped! Last year you posted a very long message on Facebook about your current mental health. My question is, how do you feel now? Do you pressure yourself less, is your health-status more stable? What changes did you make? I know this question does not stick to gaming, but in a way it is about your life and career. Thanks for making big parts of my days better!

Zlapped: Thank you very much for your question Simon. I feel a lot better, I really do. I don’t feel less pressure. My biggest enemy has always been myself.

Health Status More Stable

I am, I have always, and will always be my own biggest enemy. I’m a perfectionist and I never want to do anything half-assed and I always want to provide the best quality content and to the best to my ability with everything in life, regardless of it’s my personal life, gaming, videos or cooking for christ’s sake. It doesn’t matter.

So I’ll always be pressured by myself. Because I always want to do that no matter what I do. But the pressure is significantly less since I moved here (Thailand). I’ve been working less, because the good thing here is my streaming hours overlap with my scrim hours. Which means I won’t be streaming for 7 hours then have a  1 hour dinner break then scrim for another 5 hours. I had work days that were sometimes 16 hours or 18 hours long. On average 10-16 hours a day. During the peak hours before that long mental health post on my Facebook page.

Nowadays I work around 8-12 hours a day. I would say around 10-12. It’s still too much and I should be working less but I just moved to Thailand and I have a lot of meetings and I’m trying to make things work. Just generally trying to do the best I can here.

But it will slow down. It will slow down I believe. It’s a good question. But, in any case what changes I made? The changes I made I ensured I had that lunch break regardless of losing viewers because you know I had like 800-1000 viewers then if I had a dinner break I lost like half or more. ANd that hits you. If you can keep up the viewers for a full stream it’s much better for you. So I made sure I had the dinner breaks. I made sure I ate more in general and I made sure I drank a lot of water. Stopped drinking so much coffee. 1 or 2 maybe instead of what I had before. I also didn’t watch as much TV as I used to. I tried to get to bed earlier and yeah I just made normal day to day changes. Because I know in order to do my job to the best of my ability I need to spend a lot of time on it. So, the only thing I could change was the day to day stuff and nothing else for the moment. I do hope that I’ll be able to work less in the future when I have a normal work day of like 7-8 hours and be able to eat 3-5 meals a day that I can cook whenever I want to. But that’s for the future, for now I’m going to do everything I can to provide the best content and without feeling bad of course and keeping a good mental health and feel good about myself.
